Flexible nasal endoscopy is a procedure that is used to look inside the nose, back of the nose, voice box and back of the throat and tongue. An endoscope is a type of flexible telescope. It is a very common procedure that is performed in the outpatients' clinic, ward or emergency department.
Anyone who has a problem with the ear, nose, throat or voice box may need to have this procedure. The procedure usually only lasts a few minutes and can be performed with or without local anaesthetic.
Hoarseness or Dysphonia means a change in the sound of someone’s voice.

Changes in voice pitch are common in young children as they grow through puberty

A complete loss of voice, resulting in only a whisper, is called Aphonia.
Normally when we talk the vocal cords come together and vibrate. This creates a sound which we know as the voice. Hoarseness results from the vocal cords in the Larynx not working properly.
