Dr. Jason Smith is a Board Certified Otolaryngologist practicing ear, nose, and throat surgery for children and adults.  He has a special interest in surgical and medical conditions of the ear.  Surgical hearing restoration, surgery of chronic ear disease and implantable hearing devices are offered, as well as general ear, nose and throat surgeries.  Nearly all surgeries are performed on site in a licensed and accredited surgical center.  Hearing evaluation, digital hearing amplification devices, and the evaluation and treatment of inner ear balance disorders are provided within the audiology department.  Doctorate level audiologists staff this department.

 

Dr. Smith's practice is a continuation of nearly one century of specialty care on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.  Originally founded in 1916 by the late Dr. Charles McWilliams, the practice continued as the Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat Clinic of Gulfport with members H.K. Rouse, M.D., A.V. Hays, M.D., C. Hal Cleveland, M.D. [all deceased], and Robert Little, M.D. [now retired].  Currently, the practice is a component of Coastal ENT, LLC.

 

Dr. Smith is an extensively trained, experienced surgeon.  He received his medical degree from Tulane University.  Post graduate surgical training included general and subspecialty surgical residencies at Tulane University in New Orleans and Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois.  He is certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology.  He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery.  He is a past president of the Mississippi Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat Society and past Chief of Staff of Memorial Hospital at Gulfport.  He is currently the Medical Director of the Gulf South Surgery Center, a clinical instructor in otolaryngology at Tulane University, and the alternate governor for the State of Mississippi to the American Academy of Otolaryngology.
